Election letters for June 18
Vote for Parnell
think that everone should take a look at Archie Parnell. A year ago I would not be actively campaigning for a candidate.I researched my candidates and voted. That’s it.
Now I am knocking on strangers’ doors 7 days a week to tell them about Archie. When I met Archie the first time he was actually interested in what I had to say. When I met him the second time he remembered what I had ask him about the first time.
Archie really does care about the people in the 5th district. Archie doesnt believe in stalemates or being a NO all the time. He has said many times that if Trump offers something that is good for the 5th District he will vote yes. He has also said that if Trump offers something that is bad he will fight for whats right for us.
His opponent wants to join the Freedom Caucus who say no to everything.
I would urge you that before you vote please take time to look at Archie Parnell, the person. A man who cares deeply about District 5 families and wants laws passed that helps our communities thrive. Archie is hands down the best person in this race and wants to put people over parties.

Vote for Kulma
For the second time in my life I became a member of a Political Party. The Green Party is the ONLY political party that does NOT accept corporate donations. It is the only true Party of the People and the People of the Green Party have set a platform of inclusion, equality, environmentalism, and peace. They are for non-violence but all for defending our Country. They support the military and believe our veterans should receive the highest level of care and compensation that we can be provided and that America should always seek the path of peace before war.
David Kulma is willing to fight for true freedom by ending this for-profit prison system that does nothing but funnel non-violent, poor, and disproportionately people of color, into a for-profit corporation!
A vote for David means you believe in universal Healthcare for all American citizens. A vote for David means you understand that medical care is a human right and one that should be extended to all citizens in the one of the wealthiest nations in the world.
A vote for David means that you believe in fair taxation. That means that the corporate taxes and the tax on the wealthy will go back to where it belongs! No longer should the middle class bear the burden of elevating the few.
A vote for David Kulma means you believe in Public Education as a public good, and the equality of all Citizens regardless of race, color, creed, religion, or sexual preference/identity. We are all Americans.
On June 20 I will vote for David Kulma and I will walk away knowing that I voted for the person who most closely reflects MY Values and that I have contributed to a solution, not added to the problem.

Vote for Parnell
Archie Parnell believes that if you paid into Social Security and Medicare, you have earned it. He will stand up for families and defend healthcare and Medicare. The Republican bill to replace the Affordable Care Act will raise premiums on older Americans. The bill would shift the cost of providing health care to the states and that would lead to cuts to critical services that allow individuals to live independently in their homes. It will put at risk the lives of 17.4 million low-income seniors and people with disabilities who rely on Medicaid. People age 50-64 would pay more for insurance. It will allow insurance companies to charge more for pre-existing conditions.
Low and middle-income families will foot the bill. Tax cuts will be given to the wealthy, insurance companies, and drug companies.
Archie Parnell will use his years of experience as a tax attorney to make big corporations pay their fair share. He will close the loopholes that allow big companies to stash trillions of dollars overseas. That revenue would be used to strengthen our infrastructure and create good paying jobs here at home. He believes Infrastructure enables small businesses to grow and will draw larger businesses to South Carolina.
Congressional District 5 has 95 schools that have a majority of low -income families receiving Federal Funds (Title 1 schools) Archie Parnell believes that every child should have the opportunity to succeed in life. He will stand up and fight to keep the U.S. Department of Education Funded for all public schools.
Norman voted against a bill to protect Individual Retirement Accounts, aid to farmers,an infrastructure bill to improve roads, workers’ compensation for police officers that suffer post-traumatic stress.Don't give him the chance to do the same to our veterans? Vote for Archie Parnell.

I have voted for members of both major parties in my 70 years of voting. I have always sought to be an informed voter who not only knew what his candidate stood for, but knew why the other candidate was not as qualified or worthy of my vote. My votes were never based on party membership, but always on the caliber of the candidate; it was never about the letter that followed their name, be it a D for Democrat or R for Republican. But lately, I have been unable to vote for any democrat because of the direction they seek to move the country.
In recent years, the Democratic Party has voted to remove the name of God from their platform, they have supported Planned Parenthood’s gruesome practice of selling dead baby organs and limbs and they have supported Sanctuary Cities. The Democrat Party has supported the Occupy Wall Street nonsense and the efforts to silence free speech on College Campuses and they have even turned a blind eye to attacks on our members of law enforcement. Just these few examples are sufficiently egregious that they should cause even the yellowest dog democrat to reconsider his or her loyalty to that party. It saddens me to see so many of my Christian friends vote against their own values out of loyalty to a letter.
The issues I listed are not left/right issues, they are not Republican/Democrat Issues…they are freedom and morality issues. I do hope my democrat friends will not allow their leadership to continue this path. On June 20, I urge you to vote for the pro-life, pro-law enforcement, pro-America candidate, Mr. Ralph Norman.
Signed,
John Hunter

Reading that Ralph Norman would not participate in last Friday’s NAACP candidates evening I became curious about his position on key issues impacting our state. A brief visit to his website electralphnorman.com quickly told me the reason Ralph ducked the NCAA candidate forum: he has nothing new to offer.
Building a huge border wall may excite Ralph, but does nothing to excite me and I am still awaiting news that the Mexicans have had a change of heart and will fund the wall after all. How many South Carolinians have the wall at the top of their political bucket list?
Implied in his statement about repeal of Obamacare are some oblique references that what will replace is the poorly crafted Trump Care. This does bother me greatly. Our state, with a population of 4.9 million, currently has over 1.1 million citizens enrolled in Medicaid. Clearly we are a poor state. The proposed house bill, supported by Ralph, would take $880 billion out of Medicaid funds that go to the states.
I wonder if Ralph is aware that over 35 percent of Medicaid funding provides nursing home support for the elder poor. Another significant portion of this funding flows to rural hospitals serving the poor counties of South Carolina. Take away this funding source and nursing homes and rural hospitals close.
A major plank in the Trump Care plan is another draconian tax cut for the ultrawealthy at the expense of the poor. Please get serious Ralph, and find a better route to good affordable healthcare. We are a nation of means and seriously care about affordable healthcare for all. Medicaid is very important to all citizens in District #5 rich or poor.

We have plenty of political signs on each corner throughout the area for the upcoming SC 5th Disctrict congressional election. I have noticed that on Ralph Nornan’s signs he clearly points out that he is the Republican Party candidate.
His Democrat opponent, Archie Parnell, does not indicate on his many signs that I have seen which political party he represents. Is this a strategy by Parnell to confuse voters? I would hope that The Hearald will make it clear that Ralph Norman is the conservative Republican candidate and Archie Parnell is the lliberal Democrat Party candidate.

“Be Careful What You Ask For” is becoming a reality. We, the voters of South Carolina, wanted change, but are not getting what we wanted or voted for. The elected officials are not doing what they promised, verifiable statements are turning into “fake news,” a budget helps the rich get richer, climate change claimed a “hoax” with no scientific data to back that statement, Andrew Jackson’s “handling of the Civil War” (unbelievable!), “draining the swamp” by putting ultra-wealthy CEOs in positions of authority and lastly are the serious implications of Russian intervention in American political systems.
I believe Ralph Norman is a good man and did a decent job as a representative, however, I cannot support him due to his support of President Trump and the lies coming out of Washington. I ask you to look, not at party lines but at individuals. Which candidate is is truly America aligned?
Having lived in Rock Hill for over 30 years, I know America has been and still is great. Lies, distortions, prejudice have no place in our community, our state or in our nation. If you will take time to study our pool of candidates, I believe you will support Archie Parnell. His is a rational, common-sense approach that is respectful and inclusive. Those are truly American ideals. It is imperative everyone take time to vote and voice YOUR choice for this very important position in the 5th District.
The budget objectives (how in the world will it be funded), Medicaid and Medicare changes (higher premiums for all), Tax changes (wealthy get richer), food stamps allowances (working but your food stamp program will be reduced), will be felt by everyone but the very wealthy. Get to the polls on June 20 and vote – hopefully for Mr. Parnell
