Letters to the editor for Feb. 4
Many watched premiere
Kudos to the Complex on the Green, the town of Fort Mill and Macaroni Kid for hosting one of the handful of exclusive premieres of the new show airing for the first time on Friday on Disney Channel’s Disney Junior – “Miles of Tommorrowland.” Only select areas across the nation had this opportunity to see the show before it hits TV.
Due to the generosity and support of Tammy Woods at the Complex and Mayor Danny Funderburk, the event was able to grow, and more than 200 York County children and their parents were able to attend the premiere of the TV show and enjoy crafts and snacks.
The partnership between Macaroni Kid, Disney Junior, the Complex and the town of Fort Mill resulted in a once-in-a-lifetime event for so many families. Thanks also to the Sunday staff at the Complex for all their help!

Police were very helpful
Recently, my husband and I were on our way to dinner at a local restaurant. It was raining and dark. We turned left at the intersection of Mount Gallant Road and Dave Lyle Boulevard, intending to drive down Dave Lyle to the restaurant.
Unfortunately, we turned too soon and found ourselves heading the wrong way and driving into oncoming traffic. We couldn’t pull onto the median because it was so wet we would have gotten stuck.
Almost immediately we heard sirens. A young police officer came up to the passenger side of our car and asked if we were alright. We explained what had happened.
We were pretty shaken up and expected to be ticketed, but instead we were told to drive slowly to the next light where we could cross over into the correct lane. Another police officer already was there blocking traffic for us, and directed us through the light.
We were very impressed by how quickly the police arrived to help us. Their training prevented what could have been a bad accident. In light of all the recent bad press the police in this country have been receiving, we wanted to say something positive about the Rock Hill Police Department.
