Be more positive about Christmas

After reading James Werrell’s sarcasm-laden Friday column dealing with the uproar over the Starbuck’s Christmas cup, I felt a need to respond. It seems that the liberal mainstream media – where Werrell so proudly sits – finds humor in the plight of how the Christian community responds to things that seem to be changing at a rapid pace.

For years, the liberal media has been the spearhead of the liberals as well as those who have a dislike for Christians to do everything in their power to remove any semblance of the Christian faith from everything. Nativity scenes are being removed from public places. Folks are being asked not to say “Merry Christmas” but rather use the politically correct term “Happy Holidays” in fear of offending some atheist, agnostic or God-hater who only wants to experience Christmas following the pitiful list Werrell provided.

I see no humor in the fact that Werrell has an issue that bothers some Christians, and instead of taking his column and doing something productive with it, he uses it to denigrate and mock Christians. I am not surprised by this since it is the charge of mainstream media to do their best to stir up contention, hate and bad humor toward Christians.

I have seen folks like Werrell do this over and over and over and, quite frankly, it causes some concern. I look forward to his list of things to do to celebrate Ramadan for the Muslims. Go ahead and publish one. Let’s see what happens to his office. But, he seems to have no problem piling on Christians.

Now, I don't follow any of the list that he proposed. I don't see Christmas as some day that requires a tree, a nativity scene, watching football or any Christmas special or any other tasks that were on his lame list.

That isn’t what Christmas is about. And he failed miserably by not sharing some real meaningful things a Christian could do, such as finding a family that has needs, spending time with family without football, preparing a meal for someone who is shut in or buying a toy for a needy child. Things that one can really call meaningful and in the true spirit of Christmas.

But he didn't. Werrell chose to do as mainstream liberal media always do – mock and continue to cause more anger. I suppose one who chooses to do so actually has no clue how to suggest the good things that could be done and probably spends more time doing the things he has listed. I can only assume that is the way he spends his time doing during the Christmas season. And, based on his opinion, I am not surprised.
