Clinton panders to the pampered

In response to state Mandy Powers Norrell’s letter, “Clinton the choice for education,” she stated that with Hillary Clinton’s plan “no student will have to borrow money to get a higher education and pursue their dreams.” She also stated that Hillary “will fight to give our kids the future they deserve.”

Has our society lost the virtue of saving and working hard to pursue our dreams, but instead expects everything to be given for free? Hillary is clearly trying to buy the votes of pampered college students and irresponsible parents by offering a free college education. Other taxpayers should not have to pay for their college education.

Choosing candidate is difficult

I am a realist with very little respect for the presidential candidates and can hardly know who to vote for in the election for 2016. I am not a Republican, Democrat, liberal or independent voter. Rather, I vote for who I like and agree with based on my own beliefs.

My son is a Marine, now master sergeant, who served his country well with one outing in Kuwait, then two deployments to Iraq. He was blessed to come home without a scratch.

I am outraged now with our service people dying and coming home with emotional illnesses, broken and physically torn. They are often not getting what they need due to our government not having decent facilities for them to heal in. They are getting torn apart for a senseless war!

As for gun laws, I believe in our right to bear arms, but no one needs a machine gun or guns with silencers for protection or hunting. I vote yes to checking out people’s backgrounds and registering to buy a gun. I also believe we should have a law that gives owners the right to have a weapon on the seat of their cars instead of being locked up.

I understand not being for Muslims coming into the U.S., but there are good Muslims that are here or who were born here who should not be threatened because they “may be ISIS.” I taught precious Muslims all the way back to the ’90s who were here while at York Tech in adult education for 20 years.

There is now an Islamic temple on Main Street. They have been threatened. How sad!

As far as immigrants are concerned, there are some who are harder workers than some of our citizens. And yet they are paid low wages while sending most of their money to wives and children, working three days a week and living in poverty. And young immigrant children born here and educated here still are threatened to be sent home with their families.

We have plenty of citizens who don’t pay taxes who receive charity.

So, who will I and my family vote for in 2016? A lot of prayer and contemplation will go on before we vote.
