Letters to the editor for Jan. 14
Trump has the right to his opinions
In typical liberal fashion, state Rep. John King, D-Rock Hill, shows his utter lack of knowledge about the U.S. Constitution. His quote in Sunday’s Herald, concerning Donald Trump included the words, “Democrats and Republicans don’t agree on much, but most of us agree that Donald Trump is an embarrassment to our country’s political process and stands contrary to the beliefs of our Founding Fathers and the values of the United States Constitution.”
No, it is Rep. King who is an embarrassment. I am not a Trump supporter, but I am a firm believer in the entire U.S. Constitution and its values, including the First Amendment, that pesky little part of it that guarantees the right of freedom of speech.
Again, not being a Trump supporter, he is a perfect example of the political process in action. Whereas the majority of the candidates on both sides of the aisle have forgotten their constituents for many election cycles, he is willing to stand up and say what many think but have had no voice in their government.
Yes, he is a buffoon, but he has that right to be. Yes, he says things liberals don’t like, but, again, he has that right to.
One day the pendulum will swing the other way, then, you will thank whatever deity you believe in that there is a First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

King doesn’t know his constituents
It appears state state Rep. John King, D-Rock Hill, does not know his constituency. Maybe voters need to find him a new job.
He says Donald Trump is not wanted in South Carolina. Well, 10,000 people tried to get into Winthrop Coliseum for his rally!
Then King condemns the removal of the Muslim lady. She has since been shown by the media to be an activist protestor rather than an innocent person.
None of King’s rhetoric to the media has been true. It looks like he is the one who may be the embarrassment, not Trump.
