York County students skating on real ice during school hiatus

A couple dozen kids bundled in puffy coats, scarves and gloves, glided around a rink in downtown Rock Hill on Tuesday.

The kids were students of South Carolina Connections Academy — a free online public school serving grades K-12.

The mostly middle- and- high schoolers met at the Founders Holiday Ice Rink, located on Saluda Street, across from Fountain Park for a field trip.

The ice rink will remain open through Jan. 20. Visit https://www.facebook.com/FoundersHolidayIceRink/ for details.
