Frogs and ‘hops’ abound at Rock Hill’s annual festival

It was all about frogs Saturday in Rock Hill.

Kids raced bullfrogs, festival-goers drank “hops” in the park and Glen and Glenda the Frogs waved at curious toddlers at Winthrop Lake.

It was all part of the annual Come-See-Me Festival, a 10-day event — Rock Hill’s ode to Spring.

Come-See-Me draws thousands of people annually for weekly events in April. The event started 60 years ago to encourage tourism in Rock Hill.

The festival started Thursday with the Come-See-Me parade, the Beach Bash on Friday, Hops in the Park and the Mayor’s Frog Jump Saturday, among other events.

The festival will continue throughout the week with events in Rock Hill and culminates in the Barbecue Cookoff and the Tailgate Party next Saturday, which will feature fireworks.

Other events include Sundaes With Glen and Mother Goose on Sunday, weekday entertainment at Glencairn Garden, the Teddy Bear Tea Party on Wednesday, Broadway Night on Thursday and Moonlight Jazz and Blues on Friday.

A newly-added event this year is the Come-See-Me Golf Classic Tuesday at Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill.
