Rock Hill area high school football scoreboard for Friday, Oct. 28

Clover 52, Rock Hill 34

The Clover Blue Eagles defeated the Rock Hill Bearcats 52-34 in a Region 3-5A contest in Clover Friday night.

Rock Hill took a 7-0 lead with eight minutes left in the opening quarter when Matthew Wilson passed to Townsend Robertson.

Clover answered with three scores for a 21-7 lead after one period. Jayden Bryant got the first two scores. He returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown and added a 35-yard interception return. Elijah Farmer capped the first quarter scoring with an 18-yard touchdown run.

Rock Hill cut the deficit to 21-13 on Wilson’s second touchdown pass of the game, but the Blue Eagles rallied for 17 points to lead 38-13 at the break. Landon Stone led the charge with a pair of touchdowns, and Haven Maddox tacked on a 29-yard field goal.

The ‘Cats got two scores to open the second half. Wilson got both on runs of two and 30 yards. That cut the lead to 38-28. The Blue Eagles answered when Cade Pilgrim returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown and a 45-28 cushion.

The teams traded scores to end the contest. Rock Hill got its score on a 65-yard run by Daylen Boulware, while Cl.over’s score was a one-yard run by DeMarco Evans.

The Blue Eagles finished the regular season with a 4-1 region record and an overall mark of 6-4. They will play at home next week in the first round of the playoffs. The Bearcats completed their regular season with a 1-4 region record and a 2-8 overall mark. They will play on the road next week in the first round of the playoffs.

Nation Ford 52, Fort Mill 14

The Nation Ford Falcons routed the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets 52-14 in a Region 3-5A game at Nation Ford Friday night.

Isaiah Hayes passed to Jason Moran to give Fort Mill a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

The Falcons answered with three straight scores for an 18-7 lead at halftime. AJ McCollum got the first score on a 16-yard run. Quarterback Carson Black accounted for the next two. He scored on a six-yard run, and later passed to Jordan Ussery on a 19-yard play.

The Falcons got their offense in high gear after intermission. They scored five touchdowns for a 52-7 advantage.

Black passed for two more scores. The first was to Lucas Barz for 30 yards, and the second was to Daheem Knowles for 47 yards. Zay Neely picked up a Fort Mill fumble and raced 18 yards for another score. Jeremiah Hailstock added a 7-yard touchdown run, and backup quarterback Kaden Barnett capped the Falcons’ scoring when he passed to Oliphant Ellison on a 10-yard play.

Fort Mill got its final points when Collin Martin passed to Moran on a 52-yard play.

The Falcons finished the regular season with a region mark of 3-2 and an overall record of 4-6. They will play on the road next week in the opening round of the playoffs. The Yellow Jackets ended their season 0-5 in region play and 0-10 in all games.

South Pointe 33, York 14

The South Pointe Stallions toppled the York Cougars 33-14 in a Region 3-4A game in York Friday night.

South Pointe led 13-7 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for the victory.

The Stallions finished the regular season with a 3-2 region mark and an overall slate of 7-3. They will be on the road next week in the first round of the playoffs. York finished the regular season with a 1-4 region record and an overall mark of 5-5. They will play on the road next week in the first round of the playoffs.

Andrew Jackson 30, Buford 27

The Andrew Jackson Volunteers edged the Buford Yellow Jackets 30-27 in a Region 5-2A contest at Buford Friday night.

Andrew Jackson led 14-0 after one period and 17-0 at intermission. Buford cut the deficit to 17-7 after three quarters. The Yellow Jackets trimmed it to 17-14 early in the final quarter, but the Volunteers answered with a pair of touchdowns for a 30-14 advantage. Buford closed the scoring with a touchdown in the final minutes.

The win was the eighth straight for the Volunteers and gave them the region title with a record of 5-0. They are 8-2 overall and will host a first round game next week. Buford finished 3-2 in the region and 8-2 overall. They will play on the road next week in the opening round of the playoffs.

Lewisville 44, McBee 18

The Lewisville Lions routed McBee 44-18 in a Region 3-1A contest in McBee Thursday night.

The Lions made it 7-0 when Zach Rogers scored on a two-yard run midway through the opening quarter.

Lewisville added to their lead with 24 second period points. They got a pair of scoring runs from Damion Fee, a fumble return for a touchdown by Kentez Davis, and a 39-yard field goal by Marcel Fee to lead 31-0. McBee scored on the final play of the first half to cut it to 31-6.

McBee added a touchdown late in the third stanza to make it 31-12. The Lions answered early in the fourth quarter when Jordan Strong passed to Jacorreun Howze for 13 yards and a 38-12 advantage. McBee cut the deficit to 38-18 midway through the period, before Fee capped the scoring with a one-yard run with less than four minutes to play.

The Lions, who wrapped up their first region title in 15 years last week, completed the regular season with a region mark of 4-0 and an overall record of 9-1. They will host a first round playoff game next Friday night.
