Independence is back in The Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 high school football poll

Independence High School is back in The Charlotte Observer’s Sweet 16.

Since losing by a point to No. 2 West Charlotte, a game that knocked the Patriots out of the longest running football in the region, Independence has won in back-to-back weeks. That includes Friday’s convincing 31-10 win at Charlotte Catholic.

The Patriots have won their past two games by a combined score of 76-10 and should be favored in the remainder of the regular-season games until they meet rival Butler next month.
