Vote for The Herald’s high school fall sports athlete of the week

Below are the nominees for the Rock Hill Herald’s high school athlete of the week. Vote as often as you like.



Isaac Campbell, Fort Mill cross-country
: The Yellow Jackets’ junior won the Region III 5A title by one second on Oct. 28.

Campbell, who edged out Nation Ford senior, Alex McCaskill, also led the Fort Mill cross-country team to a regional title by 20 points.

Ben Carroll, Indian Land cross-country: The Warriors’ clocked 18:09 to finish as runner-up at the Region III 4A championship at Lancaster High on Oct. 28. Carroll’s run also helped the Indian Land team to a third-place finish in the region. Carroll was the Lancaster County champion this season.

Max Conetta, Catawba Ridge cross-country: The Copperheads’ junior ran a 17:52.70 to win the Region III 4A title by nearly 17 seconds at Lancaster High on Oct. 28. Conetta’s efforts also helped the Catawba Ridge team win the region title by 26 points.

Teryn Dalton, Westminster Catawba golf: The Westminster Catawba senior shot an 82-92 to finish 14th at the NCISAA Division II state championships at Keith Hills Country Club in Lillington on Oct. 23-24. Dalton was also an All-Metrolina Athletic conference (MAC) selection this season.

Hailey Fowler, Rock Hill volleyball: Fowler had 42 digs, 29 kills, 51 service receptions, seven assists and five aces in two playoff wins against Gaffney (second round, 3-1 on Oct. 23) and River Bluff (quarterfinals, 3-2 on Oct. 25). Rock Hill is 26-6 this season.

Brooke Mehlhouse, Catawba Ridge golf: The seventh-grader shot a two-day 159 (78-81) to finish in fifth-place at the 4A state championships at Saluda Valley Country Club in Williamston on Oct. 23-24. Mehlhouse’s play also helped Catawba Ridge to a 4A state runner-up finish. Mehlhouse was an all-state and all-region performer this season.

Ava Shook, York cross-country: The Cougars’ sophomore ran a 21:15.60 to win the Region III 4A title by 32 seconds at Lancaster High on Oct. 28. Shook’s run helped York to a third-place region finish.

Hunter Willis, Riverwalk Academy cross-country: The seventh-grader ran a personal-best 18:37.64 to win the Region III A title at McBee High on Oct. 25. Willis’ run also helped the Riverwalk Academy cross country team to a 27-point victory at the same meet.
