Vote for The Herald’s high school winter sports athlete of the week

Below are the nominees for The Herald’s high school athlete of the week.

Nas Berry, Fort Mill basketball: The 6-foot-1 junior scored 13 points, had four rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 45-37 win at Catawba Ridge, Dec. 8.

Berry also had 13 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in a 54-52 loss at Lancaster, Dec. 5.

Berry is averaging 11.2 points, 3.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds and two steals per game for Fort Mill (3-2) this season.

Adrian Buchanan, Northwestern wrestling: The Trojans’ senior went 6-0 this weekend, winning the 175-pound title, including three pins, at the Silver Fox Invitational at Dutch Fork, Dec. 9.

Buchanan is 10-1 overall this season.

Jackson Burnham, Nation Ford basketball: The 6-foot-3 senior scored 31 points, had five rebounds, five assists, and two steals in a 66-62 win over Northwestern, Dec. 4.

The next night, Burnham scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 66-59 loss at Catawba Ridge.

Burnham finished off the week with 13 points, two rebounds and two assists in a 43-40 victory at Northwestern, Dec. 8.

Burnham is averaging 26 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game for Nation Ford (4-1) this season.

Zeke Clyburn, Andrew Jackson basketball: The 6-foot-5 sophomore had back-to-back double-doubles as the Volunteers won both games this week.

Clyburn scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 68-39 win at Camden, Dec. 5.

Clyburn also had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-58 victory over Great Falls, Dec. 8

Clyburn is averaging 11.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for Andrew Jackson (5-2) this season.

De’Ashaj Crawford, Rock Hill girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-6 senior scored 19 points, had three rebounds, three assists and one steal in a 57-48 win over Hunter Huss, Dec. 9.

Crawford also had 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 70-52 loss at South Pointe, Dec. 8.

Crawford started the week with 34 points, including five three-pointers, to go with four rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 60-57 loss at Marvin Ridge.

Crawford is averaging 15.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals for Rock Hill (6-2) this season.

Jarrett Eubanks, Catawba Ridge wrestling: The Copperheads’ senior was a perfect 7-0 this week.

Eubanks won all three of his matches in a quad with Andrew Jackson, Cardinal Newman and Dreher High, Dec. 6.

Eubanks also went 4-0 to win the 190-pound title at the Kingsley Classic in Fort Mill, Dec. 8-9.

Eubanks pinned his opponent in less than 30 seconds to the Kingsley Classic title. He is 14-2 with nine pins overall this season.

Brandon Lantos, Clover wrestling: The Blue Eagles’ senior went 4-0 this week, including winning the 175-pound title at the Rams’ Invitational at Hillcrest High, while also leading the Clover wrestling team to victory at the same meet.

Lantos, who beat state qualifiers from Dorman and Woodmont to win at Hillcrest, is a perfect 11-0 overall this season.

Zacarious McKinney, Rock Hill basketball: The 6-foot-6 senior forward averaged 14 points and five rebounds as Rock Hill went 2-1 this week.

McKinney had 13 points and seven rebounds in a 60-54 win at rival, South Pointe, Dec. 8.

Rock Hill (2-7) also beat East Gaston 51-44, Dec. 9, and lost 79-55 at Marvin Ridge, Dec. 7.

Jaylen McMurray, Legion Collegiate girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-6 sophomore scored 25 points, had 12 rebounds and seven steals to lead the Lancers to a 55-17 win at York Prep, Dec. 8.

McMurray also had 10 points, six rebounds and two steals in a 52-39 loss at Charlotte Country Day.

McMurray scored eight points to go with six rebounds and four steals in a 49-34 victory over Christ the King.

McMurray is averaging 12 points, six rebounds and four steals per game for Legion Collegiate (3-3) this season.

Clare Moore, Fort Mill girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-4 junior scored 14 points to go with three assists and two steals in a 56-28 win at Lancaster, Dec. 5.

Moore also scored 11 points, had two assists and two steals in a 52-22 victory at Catawba Ridge, Dec. 8.

Fort Mill is 5-0 overall this season.

Victoria Morris, South Pointe girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-11 senior scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 70-52 win over Rock Hill, Dec. 8.

Morris has averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds over the last three games for South Pointe (4-2).

Morris currently has offers from Columbia College, Limestone, Livingstone and North Greenville University, according to South Pointe basketball coach Stephanie Butler-Graham.
