The Mustangs, scheduled to open the season Monday night against East Mecklenburg, were 23-6 last season. The Mustangs lost to Skyland’s T.C. Roberson in the fourth round of the N.C. 4A playoffs in 2023.
Private school power Charlotte Christian is No. 2 in the preseason poll, followed by 4A public schools Ardrey Kell, Hough and Weddington.
