Day 1 in the Dominican: Piedmont Pride baseball players already affecting change
Editor’s note: The Piedmont Pride baseball team recently completed its 2015 Southern Collegiate Baseball League season. The team, sponsored and organized by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is concluding the summer with a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. The team will be sending dispatches throughout the week from the Dominican.

With the first day completed in the Dominican Republic, lives have already been changed.
Waking up this morning has been a life changing experience. Being able to see with your own eyes the impact you can have on a community, and how much they can affect you. Today we had a team bible study, spent time at a local school, and also practiced with the young children around town at the local ball field. The children seem so happy just to be able to be in our presence, and that really hits your heart.
Bible study started with talking about Joseph and his relationship with the Lord. Joseph shows us the proper way to live a Christian life, and allows us to understand the Lord can impact your life as long as you are following his guidance.
Second, we were able to spend time with a local school, and play with the kids that went there. With huge smiles, we painted each others’ faces. Such a small deed is actually a huge impact on their life.
Lastly, we went over to the local ball field, which is nothing more than dirt, and were able to play catch with kids no older than 14.
Today has been a breathtaking experience, and it is only the first day. Being able to share this experience with my friends is a blessing by itself. The Lord does gracious things by allowing us to come down to the Dominican Republic, but our duties here are not done. Our lives will be affected just as much as the lives to whom we are trying to express Jesus Christ.
