Rock Hill High’s Randy Birch will not return as football coach. Here’s what we know

Randy Birch will not return as Rock Hill High School’s football coach next fall.

In a media release, the Rock Hill School system said it had begun an immediate search “for a new leader committed to the academic and athletic development of our student-athletes.”

Birch was hired in March 2024 after spending 11 season at Gaffney as assistant coach. He was defensive coordinator for Gaffney’s 2021 S.C. 5A state championship team.

Birch, who played in college at Western Carolina, also coached three years at Burns High School, in Lawndale, N.C.

Rock Hill was seeded No. 4 in the 2024 S.C. playoffs, but ended the season on a three-game losing streak to finish 5-6.

“We appreciate Coach Birch’s service and will ensure continued support for our football team during this transition,” the district’s statement read. “We are confident in finding an exceptional coach to lead our program to continued success.”
