The Carolina Panthers will return to uptown Charlotte in short order.

The team will launch its offseason workout program on April 21, according to a memo released by the NFL on Thursday.

Phase one of the offseason program, which lasts two weeks and only features veteran players, will consist of limited meeting and conditioning operations, with only physical rehabilitation allowed by the league under the rules of the collective bargaining agreement.

Phase two, which will take place for three weeks, will include on-field instruction, but no live contact or offense vs. defense drills will be allowed.

Phase three, which runs for four weeks and features organized team activities (OTAs) and mandatory minicamp, begins on May 27. Teams will be able to operate offense vs. defense drills, including 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 simulations, during OTAs.

Independent from the three phases of the offseason program is the potential for a rookie football development program. The program, which can last up to seven weeks, can begin no earlier than May 12.

Below is the Panthers’ entire offseason program schedule as reported by the league:

(Note: The dates on this list can change at the team’s discretion, according to the NFL)

First day of offseason program: April 21

OTA offseason workouts: May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, June 5

Mandatory minicamp: June 10-12

OTAs will serve as the first test for several of the Panthers’ offseason roster battles, including noted competitions at center, outside linebacker, inside linebacker and nickel cornerback.

The team is also expected to host competitions at kicker, kick returner, punt returner and swing tackle.

Mandatory minicamp, as implied by the name, features the first enforced attendance practices of the offseason. Veteran players aren’t subject to fines for missing workouts prior to mandatory minicamp, which serves as the conclusion of the offseason program for the bulk of the team.
