Runa Muderrisoglu named first academic All-American in Lenoir-Rhyne women's tennis history
Runa Muderrisoglu of the Lenoir-Rhyne University women's tennis team has made history, becoming the first player in program history to be named an Academic All-American.
Muderrisoglu was an All-South Atlantic Conference first-team singles honoree, going 12-7 at the No. 1 spot last season and 8-3 in conference play. She and her doubles partner, Mehetia Boosie, were named to the doubles All-SAC second team, going 20-5 at the No. 2 position and 8-2 in conference play. As a team captain, Muderrisoglu helped lead the Bears to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
A computer science major, Muderrisoglu has posted a 4.0 cumulative GPA over her three years in college. She has been on the president's list every semester and earned the LR Computer Programming and Engineering Physics Achievement Award in 2025. She is also the vice president of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society, has volunteered for student research about female athletes and is the main tennis representative in community and donor relations activities.
Baseball places five on academic all-district team
Lenoir-Rhyne baseball players Drew Beard, Sylas Boris, Preston Drebes, Trent Murchison and Matt Procopio have been named to the CSC Academic all-district team.
These teams are chosen by College Sports Communicators and honor top student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics across all collegiate divisions. To qualify, athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and either have started in 66% or participated in 90% of their games during the season.
Due to his performance on the field, Matthew Procopio has also been selected for consideration for the academic All-America team. The academic All-America awards will be announced on June 23.
Softball places four on academic all-district team
Lenoir-Rhyne softball players Madison Primm, Lani Warren, Avery Kiger and Kaylan Brown have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
These teams are chosen by College Sports Communicators and honor top student athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics across all collegiate divisions. To qualify, athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and either have started in 66% or participated in 90% of their games during the season.
Due to her performance on the field, Madison Primm has also been selected for consideration for the academic All-America team. The academic All-America awards will be announced on June 16.
