ESPN College GameDay coming to Clemson for Notre Dame showdown

With Clemson hosting No. 6 Notre Dame for the first time since 1977, College GameDay’s intrigue was piqued for a return trip to TigerTown.

ESPN’s SportsCenter already announced on Saturday morning they were doing their show live on-site, but the Saturday three-hour showcase (9 a.m.) will once again grace the Clemson campus for the primetime ABC event (8 p.m.). It is the fourth trip for the show to No. 11 Clemson, where the Tigers are 2-1 and look to stop a two-game losing streak under the spotlight.

Clemson is 2-6 overall with GameDay in town – last losing narrowly in OT at FSU last season (23-17). The two wins came over Georgia Tech in 2006 (31-7) and Georgia in 2013 (38-35). Notre Dame’s last GameDay appearance was in Tallahassee as well in a 31-27 defeat last year.

It’s the first ACC stop for the show this season, which is hosted now by longtime ESPNer Rece Davis along with GameDay staples Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and more.

Clemson (3-0) and Notre Dame (4-0) are tied 1-1 in their overall series – neither home-team with a win yet. The Irish clinched the GameDay invite with a blowout home win over UMass on Saturday.
