Former Nation Ford football standout J.T. Boyd was named to the Outland Trophy watch list ahead of the college football season.

Boyd, a redshirt junior right guard at East Carolina, started the last 11 games of the 2014 season for the Pirates and was named to the American Athletic Conference’s All-Conference second team. Boyd is listed as a center on the Outland watch list.

As a Nation Ford Falcon, Boyd helped the program to its first postseason appearance in 2011 and was named 3A All-State as a senior. The Outland Trophy goes to college football’s best interior lineman on either side of the ball, and Boyd was among 81 players listed as potential candidates for the award. South Carolina Gamecocks’ offensive tackle Brandon Shell also made the list.
