With the regular season behind them, Winthrop basketball players have their sights on the Big South Basketball Championship, and possibly an NCAA Tournament berth.

The Big South Conference tournament is this week at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte.

Winthrop’s women (8-21, 6-12) sit as the 9-seed in their tournament.

They’ve dealt with a lot this season. The Eagles had their start to conference play postponed due to having too few players. However, they’ve shown signs of resilience, including a sweep of the reigning conference tournament champions Longwood.

The Eagles have the first game of the Big South Championship as they face 8-seed UNC Asheville. Their game will tip-off at noon on March 1.

Winthrop’s men (15-16, 10-8) sit as the 6-seed in their tournament.

They come into the tournament riding a four-game winning streak, the second-longest active win streak in the conference.

The Eagles play their first game in the men’s quarterfinals against 3-seed Radford.

Their game will tip-off at 8 p.m. on March 3.

Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
