Winthrop unveils new athletic program branding, One W1INTHROP

Winthrop Athletics is launching a new branding campaign - One W1NTHROP - that focuses its emphasis on “One Team, One Family, One Goal, One W1INTHROP” during 2015-16.

The purpose of this new branding look for Winthrop Athletics is to draw its 18 teams closer together, to instill a stronger bond between the athletic department and the local communities, and to promote a common purpose of success on the courts and playing fields and in the classroom.

The four core principles of the One W1NTHROP campaign are education, opportunity, community and tradition.

Winthrop athletic director Tom Hickman says this effort will energize the entire athletic program, which includes over 325 student-athletes, 32 coaches and nearly 40 support staff, and will stir the community to action whether in the form of purchasing season tickets, joining the Eagle Club, becoming an advertising sponsor, or simply being a fan.

“We have a special product here at Winthrop that we want to share with our student body, our campus community and the entire York County community that is approaching a quarter million residents,” says Hickman, who is beginning his 27th year at Winthrop and 20th as athletic director.

“Winthrop Athletics has much to offer as our talented student-athletes work hard to bring success to their respective teams and also strive to excel in the classroom as indicated by more than 60 percent of them who achieved better than a 3.0 grade point average this past year,” he said.

“We are proud of every student-athlete and we are appreciative of the financial support we receive from each of our Eagle Club members,” said Hickman. “Through that support, our athletes are provided the opportunity to pursue an education and graduate while at the same time giving our fans great memories and a tremendous sense of pride.

“We are truly one team and one family with one goal. We are One W1NTHROP.”
