U.S. Open Disc Golf championship returns to Winthrop
The world's top disc golfer will be competing for the Disc Golf Grand Slam and the chance to earn a share of the $50,000 purse when Winthrop hosts the 2015 US Disc Golf Championship Oct. 7-10 at the Winthrop Recreation Area.
While traditional golf's Jordan Spieth and tennis great Serena Williams both captured the sporting world's attention this year with attempts at capturing a Grand Slam title, both came up short. Paul McBeth, disc golf's biggest star, now has his chance to complete disc golf's Grand Slam.
Tee times for the first and second rounds on Oct. 7 and 8 will be at 8 a.m. while the third and final rounds on Oct. 9 and 10 will begin at 1 p.m. Single day tickets are priced at $10 and a VIP ticket for the four days is $25. Winthrop students with valid ID cards will be admitted for free.
