Winthrop’s Jimechia Banks out for the year

Winthrop sophomore guard Jimecheia Banks will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a broken ankle in the early minutes of last Saturday’s women’s game at Radford.

Eagles coach Kevin Cook made the news public Tuesday morning. Banks (Phenix City, Ala.) played in all 14 games this season and started nine times, including the last six contests. She was averaging 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists at the time of the injury, and was coming off her career-high scoring game with 13 points against Longwood on Jan. 2.
