Eagles take it to Mercer

Winthrop (6-5) put together a total team effort on Sunday in a 4-3 win over Mercer.

The No. 1 duo of senior Steven Patrick (Knoxville, Tenn.) and junior Tremayne Mitchell (Johannesburg, South Africa) and the No. 3 team of freshman Diego Quiroz (Guayquil, Ecuador) and sophomore Josh Ryan (Gold Coast, Australia) claimed a pair of 6-2 wins to sweep the doubles point for the second time this season.

Quiroz led the way for the Eagles at No. 1 as he gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the match by posting a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Nicolas Guillon.

Winthrop hosts Troy at Memorial Tennis Courts on Saturday at 2.
