The Eagles (16-16, 4-5) struck first scoring two runs in the second. Roger Gonzalez walked to lead off the inning. Gonzalez was later sent home when Anthony Paulsen singled to right field. Casey Parker then double scoring Paulsen for the 2-0 lead.

The Blue Hose scored their first run of the game in the fifth when R. Koski doubled to right field scoring Rock Hill native Jacob Midkiff who had previously singled.

Presbyterian (18-13, 5-4) took the lead at 5-4 when they erupted for four runs on six hits and one error in the bottom of the 6th.

Presbyterian continued to pile on runs scoring four more on three hits and two errors in the seventh to extend to a 9-3 lead.

Winthrop tallied seven hits throughout the day but had five costly errors and left five on base. Starting pitcher Thad Harris received the loss and is now 2-3 on the season with a 4.59 ERA. Harris pitched six innings and struck out three batters along the way.

Winthrop will look to bounce back from this losing skid when the Eagles return home for a six-game home stand with two mid-week games and an upcoming Big South Conference Series next weekend. Winthrop will be back on the field this Tuesday when they host The Citadel (a game that was earlier postponed in the season due to inclement weather) at the Winthrop Ballpark beginning at 6.
