Former Gamecock lands with WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces

Another former South Carolina standout will be joining the WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces.

Brea Beal has signed a free agent training camp deal with the Aces, the team announced Friday. Training camp for WNBA teams begin April 28.

Beal, who will wear No. 8 for Las Vegas, joins former Gamecock and two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson on the Aces roster.

The Minnesota Lynx took Beal in the second round of the 2023 WNBA Draft but she was waived before the season.

Beal was a member of the Gamecocks’ 2022 national championship team and averaged 6.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists over her four-year career. She was an Associated Press All-American during her senior season and member of the Southeastern Conference’s all-defensive team.

Beal and Wilson will get a chance to play in front of Gamecock fans on May 12 when they play Puerto Rico in an exhibition game at Colonial Life Arena. Las Vegas begins its regular season on May 14 against Phoenix.
