Watch: Alicia Tournebize dunks in South Carolina’s NCAA Tournament practice

Alicia Tournebize showed off a unique skill in her proverbial basketball toolbox Friday.

The 6-foot-7 French forward dunked during a drill at South Carolina’s NCAA Tournament first-round practice on Friday.

Tournebize is no stranger to dunking. She dunked in a FIBA event for the French national team last summer and dunked in pregame warmups during her brief pro stint with the Tango Bourges Basket.

That being said, Tournebize has yet to dunk in-game for South Carolina.

And when she does dunk in a game for the Gamecocks — which feels like a matter of when not if — she’ll be the second in program history to do it. The first was Ashlyn Watkins, who dunked in each of her first three seasons with South Carolina.

Watkins’ became the first program history when she dunked against Clemson on the road in 2022. She dunked at home in Colonial Life Arena vs Kentucky in her sophomore season. Last season, Watkins dunked in a game on the road against TCU.

Tournebize joined South Carolina in the middle of this season. She signed with the Gamecocks just before Christmas and arrived in Columbia on New Year’s Day. Tournebize waited two weeks to make her debut with the Gamecocks, but her first appearance of the season came versus Texas on Jan. 15.

Tournebize has played in 15 games for South Carolina. She’s averaging 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game.

She had one of the better games of her career in South Carolina’s loss to Texas in the SEC Tournament championship game. The freshman scored six points, tallied a career-high seven rebounds and tied her career-high with 19 minutes played.

Will her first in-game dunk as a Gamecock come during March Madness? Stay tuned.
