USC’s Elliott Fry Named to Lou Groza Preseason Watch List
South Carolina senior Elliott Fry was named to the 30-player preseason watch list for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, the organization announced Thursday.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the award’s 2016 preseason watch list includes 19 former semifinalists, including Fry, who earned the honor in 2014.
Fry has been USC’s placekicker in every game of the last three seasons and owns the school record with 124 consecutive extra points made. His 130 career PATs made and 131 attempted are also South Carolina records, and he stands second in career points with 289.
Fry has hit nearly 75 percent of his career field goal attempts, including 81 percent of attempts under 50 yards. In 2015, he led the team with 85 points scored, hitting 20-of-28 field goals and all 25 extra points.
The Lou Groza award will announce its 20 semifinalists on Nov. 3.
