Former Clemson coach Danny Ford to speak at Lewisville Athletic Hall of Fame banquet

Lewisville High School is hosting its second annual Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 11 at the Conference Center at the Gateway in Richburg, and former Clemson football coach Danny Ford will be the guest speaker.

Ford led the Tiger football team to the 1981 national championship, and won 96 of the 129 games he coached during his tenure at Death Valley from 1978 to 1989. An entertaining speaker, Ford later coached Arkansas for five seasons before retiring.

The event starts at 6 p.m., and will honor Lewisville’s second class of hall of fame inductees, coach Jimmy Wallace, Maria Murdock, Michael Barber and William Strong, as well as the 1985 state championship baseball team. There will be a silent auction, and tickets are $15. They can be purchased at the school’s front office or by calling Lions football coach Will Mitchell at 704-641-8709. Corporate sponsorships are also available; call Mitchell for more information.
