High school roundup: Fort Mill baseball holds off Rock Hill

The Fort Mill baseball team took a 3-0 lead after one inning and went on to defeat Rock Hill 7-5 in a Region 3-4A game at Rock Hill on Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-2 in the region with the victory.

South Pointe 4, Broome 1: The Stallions took a 3-0 lead after four innings and defeated the Centurions in a Region 3-3A game at South Pointe.

Daniel Lipe picked up the win for the Stallions, while Bo Taylor, Kyle Dills, Austin Harrigan and Will Dunn led the hitting attack.

Clover 9, Northwestern 6: The Blue Eagles scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth and held off a Trojans’ rally in the seventh in a Region 3-4A game at Clover.

Barrett Courtwright and Noah Lindsay led the Clover hitting attack with two hits each.

Cameron Smith led Northwestern with three hits and a pair of RBIs.

Fort Mill 3, Rock Hill 0: The Yellow Jackets won for the fourth time in as many tries in the region with a win over the Bearcats in a Region 3-4A match at Fort Mill.

Kimber Haley scored two goals for the Yellow Jackets, while Meredith Christopher added one to the winning cause.

South Pointe 7, Lancaster 5: The Stallions used penalty kicks to claim a win over the Bruins in a Region 3-AAA match at South Pointe.
