Chester product picked by Diamondbacks in MLB Draft
Chester’s Trent Autry was picked in the 17th round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday.
The Arizona Diamondbacks used the 502nd overall pick on the former Cyclone standout who was The Herald’s All-Area baseball player of the year in 2015, his senior season at Chester High School.
Focusing on pitching, Autry had a standout season at Florence-Darlington Tech, helping the Stingers to the National Junior College Athletic Association World Series. He struck out 115 batters in just 75 innings of work, 10th best in the country for junior college pitchers.
