Bearcats defeat Trojans for 3rd win in Region 4-5A volleyball

Rock Hill defeated Northwestern 3-1 in a Region 4-5A match at Rock Hill on Tuesday.

Rock Hill took a 2-0 lead with 25-15 and 25-22 wins in the first two games. Northwestern won the third set 25-18, before Rock Hil closed out the match with a 25-12 win.

Rock Hill is 3-1 in the region, while Northwestern is 1-3 in region action.

Nation Ford 3, Fort Mill 1

Nation Ford fell behind 1-0 and rebounded for a 3-1 win over Fort Mill in a Region 4-5A match at Nation Ford on Tuesday.

After Fort Mill won the first game 25-21, Nation Ford won the next three by counts of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-19.

Nation Ford is 4-0 and in first place in the region at the midpoint of the season. Fort Mill is 2-2 in region play.

Nation Ford 4, Rock Hill 2

Nation Ford defeated Rock Hill 4-2 in a Region 4-5A match at Rock Hill on Tuesday.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Northwestern 179, Clover 200

Northwestern topped Clover by 21 strokes in a Region 4-5A match at Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill on Monday.

Clover’s Alyssa Campbell fired a 34 to earn medalist honors for the match.

Northwestern improved to 11-0 on the year.

Northwestern - Kayleigh Reinke 38, Shae Payne 39, Gabby Rowsam, 51, Logan Hamel 51.

Clover - Alyssa Campbell 34, Ginger Pitts 54, Mallory Dover 55, Madison McCarter 57.

GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY

Indian Land finishes 17th in 29-team field

The Indian Land Warriors finished 17th in a 29-team field at the Hare and Hounds Invitational last weekend at McAlpine Park in Charlotte.

Leading the Warriors was sophomore Hannah Sawyer with a personal best time of 19:27. She was 17th overall. Kaitlyn Rodman (19:47) was 26th overall. Lauren Sizemore (21:22), Baileigh Sizemore (23:05), and Mattie-Baile Tripp (23:58) also competed for the Warriors.

BOYS’ CROSS COUNTRY

Indian Land 32nd at Hare and Hounds Invitational

The Indian Land Warriors finished 32nd in a 32-team field at the Hare and Hounds Invitational last weekend at McAlpine Park in Charlotte.

Leading the Warriors was senior Connor Leyland with a time of 18:36. Austin Reeves (18:39), Juan Alejandro (19:07), Maddox Yegge (19:29), Graham McLaughlin (20:15) and Jared Diemer (20:28) also competed for Indian Land.
