South Pointe girls hand Rock Hill first loss of season

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

South Pointe 56, Rock Hill 43

South Pointe broke open a close game in the final quarter and defeated previously unbeaten Rock Hill 56-43 in a non-region game at Rock Hill Friday night.

South Pointe led 24-21 at halftime and was in front 34-31 headed to the fourth period. The Stallions outscored Rock Hill 22-12 in the final eight minutes to claim the win.

South Pointe is 6-2 on the year, while Rock Hill is 5-1.

Northwestern 48, Lewisville 25

Northwestern raced to a 19-7 lead after one quarter and toppled Lewisville 48-25 in a non-region game at Northwestern Wednesday night.

Carli Mundle paced Northwestern with 14 points and Brittany Bumpers added 10. Amber Bass led Lewisville with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Northwestern is 4-1, while Lewisville is 2-4.

Rock Hill 72, Chester 19

Rock Hill bolted to a 16-4 lead after one period and routed Chester 72-19 in a non-region game at Rock Hill Wednesday night.

Rikoya Anderson led Rock Hill with 19 points. Abriana Green and Jalen Armstrong added 10 points each to the attack.

South Pointe 40, Fort Mill 33

South Pointe defeated Fort Mill 40-33 in a non-region game at Fort Mill Wednesday night.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Great Falls 70, Columbia 53

Great Falls established a 21-9 lead after one quarter and dominated Columbia 70-53 in a non-region game at Great Falls Friday night.

Great Falls continued the assault in the second period and led 39-20 at halftime.

Kelton Talford led the way for Great Falls with 24 points. Donnell Adams and Kell Brown joined him in double digits with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Great Falls is 4-0 on the year.

Fort Mill 48, South Pointe 47

Fort Mill edged South Pointe 48-47 in a non-region game at Fort Mill Wednesday night.

The contest was tied 30-30 after three periods, and Fort Mill outscored South Pointe 18-17 in the final period for the victory.

Will Ross and Carson Morton led Fort Mill with 15 points each. Josh Amigo joined them in double figures with 12. J.C. McCorn led South Pointe with a game-high 16. Austin Wilson and Andarius Boulware added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Fort Mill is 3-3 on the year, while South Pointe lost for the first time in six games.

Chester 67, Rock Hill 48

Chester broke open a close game in the third period and topped Rock Hill 67-48 in a non-region game at Rock Hill Wednesday night.

Chester outscored Rock Hill 23-10 in the third quarter to pull away.

T.J. Hollis led Chester with 22 points. Quay Hardin added 14 and Darrien Bagley chipped in 11.

Saiveon Williams and Book Steele led Rock Hill with 10 points each.

Chester is 5-0 on the year.
