High school notes: Fort Mill softball advances thanks to forfeit
Mauldin forfeited its 4A softball playoffs elimination game against Fort Mill on Friday night.
The school’s athletics director, Ralph Frady, emailed Fort Mill athletics director Dwayne Hartsoe, saying “Due to numerous injuries, sickness, girls with a previous engagements, and one disciplinary suspension, Mauldin High will not be able to continue in the softball playoffs.”
The Yellow Jackets will play the loser of Laurens-Byrnes on Monday in another elimination game.

Former Stallion signs with Marshall
Former South Pointe football player Corey Neely visited Marshall last weekend and signed a national letter of intent with the Thundering Herd. Neely played the last two seasons at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga., and will play the next two in West Virginia against Conference USA competition.
Free Indian Land High School softball/baseball camp
Indian Land softball and baseball will host a free camp that will run June 29 to July 1, from 8 a.m., to noon each day. Sign up at the Indian Land High School baseball web site. Activities will include a varsity baseball scrimmage, a family camp-out in the baseball diamond’s outfield and a screening of “The Sandlot.”
