High school notes: All-State soccer teams released
The South Carolina Soccer Coaches Association released its 2015 All-State teams on Sunday, and seven local players made the grade. South Pointe’s Grayson Chappell became the first Stallion girls’ soccer player to earn an All-State award in the school’s history, while Indian Land junior Katherine Kilroy picked up her third All-State honor in as many seasons. Fellow Warrior Bailey Penegar earned All-State for the second straight season.
Indian Land junior Garrett Gerdes also earned his second straight boys’ soccer All-State nod. He and the Warriors host Saluda Tuesday night in the 2A Upper State boys’ soccer championship game as they try and advance to a fourth consecutive state championship game.

Fifth annual Cyclone Fan Fest
Chester High School is holding its fifth annual Cyclone Fan Fest on Friday, May 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A ceremony will be held in the gym at 6:30 honoring the Chester High School athletic teams and college signees. State championship winners will also be recognized and the school’s cheerleaders will perform.
The Cyclones will then hold a modified spring football scrimmage open to the public with free admission. After the game, coach Victor Floyd and his assistant coaches will be meeting and greeting the public. Concessions, a fish fry and face-painting will be available.
