Nation Ford’s Emma Maddox is the 2015 All-Area girls’ soccer player of the year.
Maddox spearheaded the Falcons’ offensive attack, as a hard-charging senior that chased down long balls over the top and pressured opposing defenders alike. Maddox was named the Region 3-4A player of the year after scoring 16 goals for Caitlyn Bagwell’s team.
Indian Land’s Mark Bonda led the Warriors to a 9-2-3 record against 3A and 4A schools, a 16-4-3 overall mark, and the third round of the state playoffs. He was named the Region 4-2A coach of the year, and is also The Herald’s 2015 All-Area coach of the year.

Player of the year: Emma Maddox, Nation Ford
Coach of the year: Mark Bonda, Indian Land
Kimber Haley, Fort Mill- smooth sophomore midfielder made All-Region 3-4A and was one of the best play-makers in the area for the Yellow Jackets.
Sierra Patterson, Fort Mill- senior helped marshal Fort Mill’s back line, which was one of the stingiest in the state after allowing just 13 goals all season. Patterson was an All-Region 3-4A pick.
Kayla Dietz, Fort Mill- sophomore was another key component of a Yellow Jacket defense that allowed just one goal in region play. Dietz was an All-Region 3-4A selection.
Brooke Ward, Nation Ford- crafty senior midfielder scored five goals and assisted 12 for the Falcons. Ward was an All-Region 3-4A pick.
Emma Maddox, Nation Ford- senior was named Region 3-4A player of the year after scoring 16 goals with two assists. Maddox was also selected to the North-South All-Star game.
Grayson Chappell, South Pointe- junior midfielder had a big year for the Stallions, making 3A All-State - the first South Pointe girls’ soccer player to do so - after scoring 34 goals and producing 15 assists.
Peyton Patterson, Lancaster- junior striker scored 21 goals and assisted six more as an All-Region 3-3A performer.
Sierra Hartman, Clover- senior defender scored three goals and assisted one, and was named All-Region 3-4A and earned a spot in the North-South All-Star game.
Katherine Kilroy, Indian Land- junior midfielder was named 2A All-State for the third year running after scoring 11 goals and doling out 15 assists.
Bailey Penegar, Indian Land- another 2A All-State performer, Penegar scored four goals, dished out three assists and led a defense that allowed just 17 goals this season.
