GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Clover routs Northwestern
The Clover Blue Eagles routed the Northwestern Trojans 63-25 in a Region 3-5A game at Clover Tuesday night.
The Blue Eagles raced to a 19-8 lead after one period and never let up. They were in front 35-14 at halftime and coasted from there for the one-sided victory.
Aylesha Wade led the charge for Clover with 17 points and five rebounds. Nysheria Wright and Janelle Carter added nine points each to the winning attack.
Clover is 16-1 overall and 1-0 in the region. Northwestern is 4-10 in all games and 0-1 in the region.
Rock Hill topples Nation Ford
The Rock Hill Bearcats toppled the Nation Ford Falcons 59-34 in a Region 3-5A game at Nation Ford Tuesday night.
Nation Ford led 14-9 after one quarter, but the ‘Cats scored 24 points in the second period and took a 33-19 lead at intermission. The Falcons cut the deficit to 39-30 after three periods, but Rock Hill pulled away in the final eight minutes for the win.
Jada Jones led Rock Hill with 18 points. Unique Burch added 16, and Gracie Wilson tossed in 11. Kelci Adams led Nation Ford with 18 points.
South Pointe rips Richland Northeast
The South Pointe Stallions ripped Richland Northeast 79-39 in a Region 3-4A game at RNE Tuesday night.
South Pointe is 14-1 overall and 1-1 in region play.
Westwood blasts York
Westwood blasted the York Cougars 71-11 in a Region 3-4A game at Westwood Tuesday night.
Westwood led 19-3 after one period and 36-4 at halftime. The Redhawks cruised from there for the easy win.
York is 3-9 in all games and 0-2 in region action.
Catawba Ridge wins twice
The Catawba Ridge Copperheads won a pair of games earlier in the week.
On Tuesday night, they topped the Indian Land Warriors 71-32 in a 4-3A game at Indian Land. They followed on Wednesday night with a 40-26 win over the Northwestern Trojans in a non-region game at Catawba Ridge.
The Copperheads are 11-6 in all games and 1-1 in region play.
Keenan routs Chester
Keenan routed the Chester Cyclones 65-14 in a Region 4-3A game at Keenan Tuesday night.
The Cyclones are 6-4 overall and 0-2 in the region.
Lewisville loses twice
The Lewisville Lions dropped a pair of Region 4-2A games earlier in the week.
On Tuesday night they lost at Andrew Jackson by a score of 47-9.
Andrew Jackson took a 18-3 lead after one period and never looked back. They were in front 37-6 at halftime and moved on from there to record the win.
On Thursday night they were defeated 57-29 by Timmonsville at home.
Timmonsville took a 27-14 lead at halftime and pulled away for the victory. Allie Keels led the Lions against Timmonsville with 10 points and 20 rebounds.
Lewisville is 1-12 in all games and 0-4 in region action.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Northwestern gets by Clover
The Northwestern Trojans defeated the Clover Blue Eagles 59-46 in a Region 3-5A game at Clover Tuesday night.
Clover broke a 15-15 tie after one quarter and took a 30-26 lead at halftime. Northwestern cut the deficit to 36-35 after three periods and used a strong fourth period to take the victory.
Northwestern is 12-4 in all games and 1-0 in the region. Clover is 10-6 overall and 0-1 in region play.
Rock Hill nips Nation Ford
The Rock Hill Bearcats nipped the Nation Ford Falcons 62-60 in a Region 3-5A game at Nation Ford Tuesday night.
Rock Hill added to its 17-15 lead after one period for a 34-25 advantage at halftime. After three quarters the ‘Cats led 51-41, and they withstood a Falcons’ rally in the final eight minutes to get the win.
Shane Blakeney led Rock Hill with 23 points, and Donoven Brown joined him in double figures with 14. Petey Tuipulotu led Nation Ford with a game-high 24 points. Tyler Thaxton and Andrew Meacham added a dozen points each for the Falcons.
Rock Hill is 9-5 overall and 1-0 in the region. Nation Ford is 7-10 in all games and 0-1 in region action.
Westwood defeats York
Westwood defeated the York Cougars 54-48 in a Region 3-4A game at Westwood Tuesday night.
York took a 15-12 lead after one period, but Westwood came back to take a 31-22 lead at halftime.
Westwood was in front 44-29 after three quarters, and they held off a York rally in the fourth period to pick up the win.
York is 5-7 overall and 0-2 in the region.
Richland Northeast edges South Pointe
Richland Northeast edged the South Pointe Stallions 39-38 in a Region 3-4A game at RNE Tuesday night.
The Stallions are 6-6 overall and 0-2 in region play.
Indian Land defeats Catawba Ridge
The Indian Land Warriors defeated the Catawba Ridge Copperheads 72-53 in a Region 4-3A game at Indian Land Tuesday night.
Indian Land led 18-11 after one period and extended it to 39-26 at intermission. They used a strong performance in the third stanza for a 63-36 cushion when it was completed.
Indian Land is 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the region. Catawba Ridge is 6-10 in all games and 0-2 in the region.
Keenan topples Chester
Keenan toppled the Chester Cyclones 58-53 in a Region 4-3A game at Chester Tuesday night.
Chester is 5-5 overall and 0-2 in the region.
Andrew Jackson defeats Lewisville
Andrew Jackson defeated the Lewisville Lions 55-47 in a Region 4-2A game at Andrew Jackson Tuesday night.
The Lions led 13-10 after the first quarter and 26-24 at the half. Andrew Jackson took a 36-35 lead after three periods and pulled away in the last period for the victory.
Lewisville is 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the region.
Great Falls routs Lamar
The Great Falls Red Devils routed Lamar 79-26 in a Region 2-A game at Lamar Tuesday night.
Kelton Talford and Dre Coleman led the Red Devils with 13 points each. DJ Adams and Jaylen Dunham chipped in 11 points each to the winning effort.
The Red Devils are 13-3 in all games and 1-0 in the region.
York Prep wins twice
The York Prep Patriots won a pair of games earlier in the week.
They defeated Elevation Prep 95-59 on Tuesday night. DJ Barksdale led the way with 24 points. Kory Davis and Colin Wylie added 14 each, while Justin Pauling chipped in 11.
The Patriots followed with a 65-32 rout of High Point on Wednesday night.
Davis spearheaded the scoring attack with 22 points. Aaron Johnson joined him in double figures with 18.
York Prep is 12-3 on the year.

Chester knocks off Keenan
The Chester Cyclones defeated Keenan 78-6 in a Region 4-3A match at Chester Thursday night.
