Kyle Neibch of the Fort Mill boys’ basketball team is The Herald’s Athlete of the Week.
The 6-foot-2 senior scored 15 points — including three 3-pointers — to lead Fort Mill to a 52-41 win over Clover on Jan. 19. Neibch is averaging 16.2 points and five rebounds for a Fort Mill team (15-4, 3-0 Region 3-5A) that has won eight straight games.
There were 66,247 votes cast in this week’s poll. Neibch earned 41% of the vote; Lex Reynolds of Rock Hill High earned 20% of the vote; and Makayla Street earned 18% of the vote.

Athlete of the Week finalists
Caden Brandenburg, Nation Ford wrestling. The Falcon senior won 20-4 by technical fall at 152 pounds against his Fort Mill opponent on Jan. 20. Brandenburg, a Belmont Abbey College signee, is 28-9 overall this season
Omari Bryson, Northwestern boys’ basketball. The 6-foot-2 senior scored 17 points in a 54-51 win over Spring Valley on Jan. 19. Bryson also had 12 points in a 52-47 victory at Nation Ford on Jan. 20. Bryson is averaging 14 points per game for Northwestern (12-6) this season.
Landon Foley, Catawba Ridge boys’ basketball. The 6-foot-3 sophomore scored 15 points — going 7-for-11 from the field — with four rebounds and two assists to help Catawba Ridge to a 73-46 win over Indian Land on Jan. 20. Foley is averaging 8.1 points and 2.8 rebounds for the Copperheads (16-3) this season.
Samara Lucas, Clover girls’ basketball. The Blue Eagle freshman came up big in the last minute to help Clover to a 43-39 win at Fort Mill on Jan. 19. Lucas gave Clover a two-point lead with 40 seconds left on two free throws. She then got a steal on the ensuing Fort Mill possession and put the game away with two more free throws. Lucas scored eight points in the victory. Clover is 12-5 this season.

Lex Reynolds, Rock Hill boys’ basketball. The 6-foot-4 junior scored 19 points and notched five rebounds and two steals in an 82-80 double overtime loss at Blythewood on Jan. 19. (Reynolds hit a three as the buzzer sounded to send the game into the second OT.) Reynolds is averaging eight points and three rebounds per game for Rock Hill (9-7) this season.
Makayla Street, Rock Hill girls’ basketball. The 5-foot-8 senior had 10 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in a 72-14 win over Blythewood on Jan. 19. Street is averaging 5.4 points and 7.1 rebounds for a Rock Hill team (15-3) that has won 10 straight games.
Kayla Wilmore, Nation Ford girls’ basketball. The 5-foot-4 freshman nearly doubled her season average with a double-double this past week, scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists and three steals in a 57-41 loss to Northwestern on Jan. 20. Wilmore — who averages 6.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season — is averaging 11 points over the last three games for Nation Ford (5-13).
