The Herald’s sports department has released its All-Area golf, tennis and lacrosse teams.

Meet some of the best high school athletes from York, Chester and Lancaster counties below.

Girls lacrosse All-Area team

Player of the Year: Catherine Barhost, Nation Ford

Barhorst, who was selected as the Upper State Player of the Year, is The Herald’s All-Area Player of the Year. The sophomore midfielder led the Falcons in five categories: She scored 52 goals, handed out 24 assists and tallied 56 draw controls. She also had 57 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.

Coach of the Year: Kristen Terry, Fort Mill.

Terry just completed her third season as the head coach of the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets and has been tabbed as All-Area Coach of the Year for a second-straight season. She led her team to a 6-0 record in the region and a 9-8 overall mark. In her three seasons at the helm of the Fort Mill program, the Jackets have compiled a mark of 17-0 in region play. Fort Mill advanced to the Upper State finals this past season where they lost to Riverside by a score of 12-9.

Catherine Barhost, Nation Ford, attacker, senior.

Auri French, Fort Mill, attacker, senior: 31 goals, 21 assists.

Summer Davis, Clover, attacker, senior: 52 goals, 16 assists, 45 ground balls.

Anna Windell, Nation Ford, attacker, senior: 33 goals, eight assists, 18 ground balls.

Mia McMillian, Nation Ford, attacker, senior: 26 goals, seven assists, 11 ground balls.

Alyssa Ramadanovic, Catawba Ridge, attacker, sophomore: 36 goals, 12 assists, 16 ground balls, six caused turnovers.

Emma Marchan, Fort Mill, midfielder, senior: 24 goals, eight assists, 45 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers.

Kiley McManemin, Catawba Ridge, midfielder, freshman: 43 goals, five assists, 14 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers.

Kaia Morey, Clover, midfielder, senior: 35 goals, three assists, 138 ground balls.

Ciara McCormick, Clover, midfielder, sophomore: 29 goals, 12 assists, 53 ground balls.

Lydia Laney, Fort Mill, midfielder, junior: 52 goals, 12 assists, 12 ground balls, five caused turnovers.

Cayden Morey, Clover, defensive specialist, senior: 46 ground balls.

Elly Zeanchock, Catawba Ridge, defensive specialist, junior: 33 ground balls, 42 caused turnovers.

Chloe Grider, Catawba Ridge, defensive specialist, freshman: 22 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers.

Ellie Ruddy, Fort Mill, goalie, senior: 177 total saves, 54% save percentage.

Boys lacrosse end-of-year awards

All the boys lacrosse coaches from high schools across York County — Clover, Nation Ford, Fort Mill, Catawba Ridge and Legion Collegiate — voted on a 2022 All-County team. This list will supplant The Herald’s All-Area boys lacrosse team this year.

First team

Attack: Adam Christenberry, Catawba Ridge; Danny Anderson, Fort Mill; Ashton Tauzin, Nation Ford; Luke Letterhos, Nation Ford.

Midfield: Luke Peterson, Catawba Ridge; Josh Ameo, Nation Ford; Tyler DeMarco, Nation Ford; AJ Drutis, Clover; Trent Farley, Fort Mill.

Defense: Rader Rhodes, Catawba Ridge; Ryan Nicely, Clover; Elijah King, Clover; Dustin Sampers, Clover; Xander Ring, Fort Mill; Callan Sobas, Nation Ford; Matt Hurst, Nation Ford.

Boys golf All-Area teams

Player of the Year: Mason Kucia, Indian Land

Coach of the Year: Rocky White, Indian Land

First team

Mason Kucia, Indian Land, Fr. The Warrior freshman won his second-consecutive state championship in 2022, shooting three-under par in two day event (68-73) in May. The Region 3-4A Player of the Year helped his team to a third-place finish at the 4A state championships — the best result out of all other area teams.

Cam Baker, Fort Mill, Jr. The Yellow Jacket junior was the Region 3-5A Player of the Year while finishing tied for fourth at the 5A state championships. He also shot a 75 at the 5A Upper State tournament.

Benjamin Mills, Nation Ford, Jr. The Falcon junior tied for 10th at the 5A state championships to earn All-State honors and shot 76 at the 5A Upper State tournament.

O.T. Mitchell, Catawba Ridge, So. The Copperhead sophomore tied for 17th-place at states with a two-day total of 154 (80-74). He also shot one-over par, 73, at the 4A Upper State tournament.

Deaton Reed, Indian Land, Fr. Another Warrior freshman tied for 12th at the 4A state championships with a two-day total of 152 (78-74).

Alexia Siehl, Indian Land, Sr. The University of Wisconsin signee was tied for 17th at the state championships with a two-day score of 154 (74-80). She was the only female to compete in the field.

Second team

The Herald published its track and field spring sports All-Area teams online Tuesday morning, and the paper will run its soccer, softball and baseball teams later this week. Sam Copeland, Jay Edwards and Alex Zietlow all contributed to the selection of The Herald’s these teams.

Editor’s note: One player selected for the All-Area girls lacrosse team was mistakenly omitted in a previous version of this article. The issue has since been rectified.
