South Pointe, Northwestern still atop 4A football rankings -- plus 4 new area teams

Six high school teams from the Rock Hill region are listed in the most recent high school football media Top 10 rankings.

The South Pointe Stallions and the Northwestern Trojans remain respectively first and second in the 4A poll. The Catawba Ridge Copperheads and the Indian Land Warriors made their first appearance in the 4A poll. The Copperheads are eighth and Indian Land is tied for tenth.

The Buford Yellow Jackets also made the list for the first time this year. Buford is ranked ninth in this week’s 2A poll.

Lewisville received one first place vote and is ninth in this week’s top 10 poll in the 1A ranks.
