Northwestern 65, Brookland-Cayce 31

The Northwestern Trojans raced to a 43-14 lead at halftime and topped Brookland-Cayce 65-31 in a non-region contest at District 3 Stadium Friday night.

After B-C took a 7-0 lead, Turbo Richard scored on a 12-yard run to tie the game at 7-7. Zilon Arnold’s six-yard run gave the Trojans a 14-7 lead, but B-C responded with Tanner Staton’s second touchdown of the game to tie it at 14-14.

Finley Polk hooked up with Will Brooks on a 58-yard pass play, and when Richard got the two-point conversion, Northwestern took a 22-14 lead after one quarter.

Richard and Arnold both scored touchdowns in the second period to go along with a 13-yard pass from Greer Hopkins to Will Brooks, and the Trojans took a 43-14 lead to the dressing room at intermission.

Northwestern added 19 more points in the third quarter. Arnold scored from six yards out, and Hopkins scampered in from 20 yards away. Hopkins completed the third period scoring with an 11-yard pass to Jayden Burris. B-C countered with a pair of scores, and the Trojans were up 62-28 heading to the final period.

The teams traded field goals in the fourth quarter.

The Trojans improved to 3-0 with the victory.

Lancaster 45, Rock Hill 38

The Lancaster Bruins came from behind in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter and edged the Rock Hill Bearcats 45-38 in a non-region game in Lancaster Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, Lancaster took a 7-0 lead on a 3-yard run by Mikal McCollum. They made it 13-0 when JaRon Stevenson passed to Cureton Witherspoon on a 19-yard play. The Bearcats countered. Matthew Wilson passed to Malik Clark on a 9-yard play, and with the two-point conversion, the Bruins lead was cut to 13-8 at halftime.

McCollum opened the third period scoring with an 8-yard scamper and Lancaster was in front 19-8 midway through the quarter. Rock Hill responded. Wilson passed to Evion Hinton for 64 yards, and the two-point conversion cut the deficit to 19-16.

The Bruins answered in a hurry. Kedarian Cloud returned the ensuing kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and a 29-16 advantage. Rock Hill wasted no time. When Wilson passed to Hinton on a 49-yard play, the Bruins lead had been sliced to 26-24 after three quarters.

Stevenson got the scoring started in the fourth period with a 41-yard run, and the Bruins led 33-24. Rock Hill answered again. Brandon Watson scored on a six-yard run, and the lead was sliced to 33-31 with just more than eight minutes remaining.

When Watson scored on a three-yard run, the ‘Cats led 38-33 with just less than four minutes to play. It took the Bruins less than two minutes to score. Stevenson capped the march with a 17-yard run, and Lancaster was up 39-38 with just less than two minutes left in the game.

The Bearcats were driving for the winning score when Cloud picked off a pass and raced 95 yards for a touchdown.

The Bruins improved to 2-1, while the ‘Cats dropped to 0-3.

Hillcrest 19, Clover 14

Hillcrest took a 16-7 lead at intermission and withstood a fourth quarter Clover rally and edged the Blue Eagles 19-14 in a non-region contest in Simpsonville Friday night.

Clover dropped to 0-2 on the year with the loss.

York 70, Union County 49

The York Cougars scored in every quarter and defeated Union County 70-49 in a non-region game in Union Friday night.

The Cougars improved to 2-0 on the year with the win.

Indian Land 49, Palisades (NC) 6

The Indian Land Warriors took a 42-6 lead at halftime and toppled Palisades 49-6 in a non-region game in Charlotte Friday night.

The Warriors improved to 3-0 on the year with the victory.

Chester 34, Fairfield Central 32

The Chester Cyclones edged Fairfield Central 34-32 in a non-region game in Winnsboro Friday night.

The Cyclones broke a 14-14 tie after one period and took a 21-20 lead at halftime. Fairfield Central took a 26-21 lead midway through the third period, but Chester rallied for a 28-26 lead at the end of the quarter.

The Cyclones made it 34-26 early in the final stanza, before Fairfield Central ended the scoring with six minutes left in the contest.

The Cyclones improved to 2-1 with the win.

Crestwood 50, Andrew Jackson 49 (2 OT)

Crestwood edged the Andrew Jackson Volunteers 50-49 in two overtimes in a non-region game at Andrew Jackson Friday night.

Crestwood bolted to a 27-14 lead at halftime, but the Vols fought back. They cut the deficit to 35-28 after three periods and tied it late in the fourth quarter at 43-43.

After a scoreless first overtime, Crestwood earned the narrow victory.

Andrew Jackson dropped to 0-2 on the year with the loss.

Buford 56, Lee Central 6

The Buford Yellow Jackets raced to a 42-6 lead at halftime and routed Lee Central 56-6 in a non-region game at Buford Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 3-0 on the year.

Lewisville 35, Chesterfield 20

The Lewisville Lions broke open a tie game at halftime and defeated Chesterfield 35-20 in a non-region game in Richburg Friday night.

Chesterfield got a 6-yard run from Keegan Chambers for a 6-0 lead, but Lewisville answered. Damion Fee scored on a 16-yard run and with the PAT Lewisville led 7-6 midway through the first period.

Jayden Little’s 19-yard run gave Chesterfield a 14-7 lead after one period. The Lions answered. again. Ian Grissom passed to De’adrian Robinson on a 15-yard play, and the score was tied at 14-14. Grissom passed to Denari Garcia on a 10-yard play, and Lewisville took a 21-14 lead at the break.

Grissom gave the Lions another six-points when he completed a 20-yard strike to Jordan Strong. That gave Lewisville a 28-14 cushion after thee quarters.

The Lions capped their scoring midway through the final quarter when Jordan Strong capped a 97-yard drive with a two-yard run. Chesterfield got its final score in the final minutes of play.

Lewisville improved to 3-0 on the year with the victory.

Great Falls 2, Scott’s Branch 0

The Great Falls Red Devils won 2-0 by forfeit over Scott’s Branch in a non-region game in Summerton. Scott’s Branch was forced to forfeit the game after the officials did not show up. Great Falls is 1-2 on the year.

Lamar 22, Legion Collegiate 14

Lamar broke a 14-14 tie after three quarters and edged the Legion Collegiate Lancers 22-14 in a non-region game in Lamar Friday night.

Legion Collegiate led 14-0 in the second quarter, but Lamar answered with a pair of scores to tie the contest at 14-14 at halftime.

After a scoreless third period, Lamar got the game-deciding score in the fourth period.

Legion Collegiate dropped to 1-2 on the year with the loss.

South Pointe 16, Mallard Creek 13

Catawba Ridge 31, Nation Ford 7
