Time for the showdowns! Key region prep football games set for Friday night

There are only six games on the schedule Friday night night, but each will be important. Some will decide region titles, some will decide playoff spots, while others are rivalry matches.

Here is a rundown of this week’s games:

Rock Hill (1-3, 2-7) at Clover (3-1, 5-4)

Clover already has locked up a playoff spot. They need a win to stay sharp in preparation for next week’s first round of the playoffs. Rock Hill has been eliminated from postseason play.

Fort Mill (0-4, 0-9) at Nation Ford (2-2, 3-6)

This is a big rivalry game with bragging rights on the line. Nation Ford has a playoff spot locked up, but they need a victory to get ready for next week. Fort Mill needs a win to end their season in a positive manner.

Catawba Ridge (4-0, 9-0) at Northwestern (4-0, 8-1)

This contest will decide the region title. Both teams have explosive offenses. Both teams have solid defenses. This promises to be one of the best games in the state this week.

South Pointe (2-2, 6-3) at York (1-3, 5-4)

Both of these teams have a lot on the line. South Pointe needs a win to insure a playoff berth. York needs a win and some help in order to make the postseason. This has the makings of a very good defensive battle.

Indian Land (1-3, 5-4) at Lancaster (0-4, 3-6)

This is another big rivalry contest. Indian Land needs a victory and some help in order to make the postseason. Lancaster can not make the postseason, but they would like to end the year with a win.

Andrew Jackson (4-0, 7-2) at Buford (3-1, 8-1)

This is not only a big rivalry game, but it will decide the region championship. Both teams have enjoyed excellent seasons thus far. Both teams have improved as the year has gone along. This could be a high scoring contest.
