Rock Hill Herald Fall Sports’ Athletes of the Week Nominees
Ben Carroll, Indian Land: The Warriors’ sophomore ran a personal-best 17:40.86 to finish 15th at the 4A Upper State Qualifier at Newberry College, Nov. 5.
Carroll qualified for the 4A state championship meet with his run.
Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill Cross Country: The Yellow Jackets’ freshman won the 5A Upper State Qualifier by 12 seconds with a time of 18:23.46 at Newberry College, Nov. 4.
Cleveland’s efforts helped the Fort Mill girls’ team to a 5A State Qualifier runner-up finish.
Aamori Gaines, Northwestern Cross Country: The Trojans’ senior ran a 19:51.90 to finish eighth overall at the 5A Upper State Qualifier at Newberry College, Nov. 4.
Gaines’ run also helped the Northwestern girls’ cross country team to a runner-up finish at the same event.
Mason Haynes, Nation Ford Cross Country: The Falcons’ sophomore ran a 15:40.21 to win the 5A Upper State Qualifer at Newberry College, Nov. 4.
Haynes’ run also helped the Nation Ford boys’ cross country team to a 58-point victory at the same event.
Brittany Mobley-Meulman, Rock Hill Cross Country: The eighth-grader ran a 19:19.06 to finish in sixth-place at the 5A Upper State Championships at Newberry College, Nov. 4.
The Rock Hill girls’ cross country team finished eighth-place overall at the qualifier.
Matthew Prete, Lancaster Cross Country: The Bruins’ senior ran a personal-best 16:12.38 to finish second at the 4A Upper State Qualifer, at Newberry College, Nov. 5.
Prete also led the Lancaster boys’ cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the same meet.
