Rock Hill Herald Fall Sports’ Athletes of the Week Nominees

Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill Cross Country: The Yellow Jackets’ freshman ran an 18:30.78 to win the 5A state championship at Sandhills’ Research Center in Columbia, Nov. 10.

Cleveland also led the Fort Mill girls’ cross country team to state runner-up finish at the same meet.

Aamori Gaines, Northwestern Cross Country: The Trojans’ senior ran a 19:53.12 to finish 11th overall at the 4A state championships at the Sandhills’ Research Center in Columbia, Nov. 12.

Gaines, who earned all-state honors, helped the Northwestern girls’ cross country team to a third-place finish.

Mason Haynes, Nation Ford Cross Country: The Falcons’ sophomore ran a 15:37.89 to finish as 5A state runner-up at the Sandhills’ Research Center in Columbia, Nov. 10.

Haynes’ efforts also helped the Nation Ford cross country team to a third-place finish, which is the best in school history.

Judah Nash, Andrew Jackson Cross Country: The Volunteers’ sophomore ran a personal-best 17:24.02 to finish 12th at the 2A state championships at Sandhills’ Research Center in Columbia, Nov. 10.

Nash was also the Region V, AA runner-up earlier this season.

Matthew Prete, Lancaster Cross Country: The Bruins’ senior ran a 16:38.30 to finish fourth at the 4A state championships’ at Sandhills’ Research Center in Columbia, Nov. 12.

Prete’s efforts also helped the Lancaster boys’ cross country team to a 11th-place finish.
