The Herald’s Athlete of the Week is...

Aamori Gaines

The Trojans’ senior ran a 19:53.12 to finish 11th overall at the 4A state championships at the Sandhills’ Research Center in Columbia, Nov. 12.

Gaines, who earned all-state honors, helped the Northwestern girls’ cross country team to a third-place finish.

The Herald’s Football Player of the Week is...

Luigi Rizzo

The 6-foot, 235-pound, right guard graded out at 89 percent, while not giving up a sack to help Northwestern to a 50-0, 4A second round state playoff win over Greenwood, Nov. 11.

Northwestern (11-1) has won seven straight games.
