Prep football: A full slate of games tonight in the Rock Hill region. What to know

There’s a large slate of high school football games tonight in the Rock Hill region.

Here’s the list:

Rock Hill at South Pointe (1-0)

Rock Hill looks to start the season on the right track by beating the Stallions for the first time since 2018, while South Pointe looks to continue its momentum following a close win over 5A Spartanburg last week. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.

Clover at Northwestern (0-1)

Clover starts the Perry Woolbright era against a Northwestern team that is coming off a tough loss against Providence Day in the Keep Pounding High School Classic. The Blue Eagles have won this matchup only once since 2007. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.

York at Nation Ford (1-0)

York aims for a strong start to the season by beating a 5A Nation Ford team that is coming off a blazing 14-point second-half comeback win over Indian Land last week. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.

Charlotte Christian (1-0) at Catawba Ridge (1-0)

Charlotte Christian comes down after a tough win over Myers Park to play a Catawba Ridge team coming off a win against Fort Mill. Both teams put together 10-win campaigns last year. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Fort Mill (0-1) at Chester (1-0)

Fort Mill hopes to get its offense going as it travels down to face a Chester team that is firing on all cylinders after its Week 0 win against Lancaster. Chester won the last matchup: a close 22-17 game last year. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Buford (0-1) at Lewisville (0-1)

Both teams are coming off tough losses last week: a 42-15 loss to a Blacksburg team that went winless last year for Buford, and a 24-7 loss to Oceanside Collegiate for Lewisville. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.

Indian Land (0-1) at Timberland (0-1)

Indian Land hopes to shake off a tough loss to Nation Ford as it travels down to St. Stephens to play 2A Timberland, who is coming off its own tough loss as well in a 36-32 loss to Berkeley. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Lancaster (0-1) at Irmo (1-0)

Lancaster tries to shake off a blowout home loss to Chester as it travels down to face an Irmo team coming off a blowout win. Lancaster played it close in a 27-20 loss to Irmo last year. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.

Andrew Jackson at Fairfield Central (1-0)

Andrew Jackson aims to open the Jeremy Smith regime with a win over a Fairfield Central team coming off a 41-0 win over Carvers Bay. Fairfield Central won the only other meeting between these teams: a 41-21 game in Week 1 last year. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.

Great Falls (0-1) at Lee Central (0-1)

Both teams come into this game following blowout losses in Week 0. Great Falls suffered a 42-6 defeat at the hands of 2A Heathwood Hall, and Lee Central lost 32-6 to Chesterfield. The Red Devils lost this matchup 28-8 last year. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.
