Rock Hill Herald Fall Sports’ Athletes of the Week

Addison Burke, Legion Collegiate Volleyball: The Lancers’ junior had 11 kills, four digs, three aces, a block and 30 service receptions in a 3-1 win over Providence Day, Aug. 22.

Burke also had 10 kills, five digs, two aces, one block and six receptions in a 2-0 victory at Southside Christian, Aug. 24.

Burke added nine kills, three digs and six more receptions in a 2-0 win at Byrnes, the same day (Aug. 24).

Burke has 44 kills, 30 digs, 74 service receptions and seven aces for Legion Collegiate (7-1) this season.

Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill Cross Country: The Yellow Jackets’ sophomore ran an 18:50.06 to win the Champions’ Invitational at Lexington High, Aug. 26.

Cleveland, who won the race by 23 seconds over the field, also led the Fort Mill girls’ cross country team to victory at the same meet.

Mason Crenshaw, Rock Hill Swimming: The Bearcats’ senior captain swam two state considerations times to finish as runner-up in the 100 breaststroke and third-place in the 200 individual medley in a meet with Nation Ford, Northwestern, Riverwalk Academy and South Pointe at Rock Hill Aquatic Center, Aug. 24.

Crenshaw, in his fifth season with the Rock Hill swim team, is a two-time state qualifier.

McKenzie Finn, Fort Mill Golf: The Yellow Jackets’ senior shot a two-over par, 38, to lead Fort Mill to a four-shot victory over York at Spring Lake Golf Club, Aug. 24.

Finn, who leads Fort Mill in scoring after three matches, has helped the Yellow Jackets to a perfect 3-0 start this season.

Heather Greenwald, Indian Land Cross Country: The Warriors’ junior ran a 22:45.25 to finish 19th overall in the Girls’ Invitational 5K at the Providence Cross Country Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Aug. 26.

Greenwald’s efforts also led the Indian Land girls’ cross country team to an 11th-place finish at the same meet.

Callie Lawton, York Golf: The Cougars’ freshman shot a one-over par, 37, to lead her team to a 38-shot win over Clover, Aug. 23.

York (1-1) also lost to Fort Mill by four shots at Spring Lake Golf Club, Aug. 24.

Ben Pach, Northwestern Swimming: The Trojans’ sophomore scored 36 points overall for his team in two meets this week.

Pach won the 100 breaststroke and finished as runner-up in the 100 butterfly in a meet with Andrew Jackson, Indian Land, Riverwalk Academy and South Pointe at Rock Hill Aquatics Center, Aug. 22.

Two days later, Pach won the 500 freestyle in 5:22.72 (automatic state qualifying time) and was runner-up in the 200 individual medley in a meet with Nation Ford, Rock Hill and South Pointe at Rock Hill Aquatics Center.

Elayna Rickmon, Clover Volleyball: The Blue Eagles’ junior libero had 34 digs, one ace and three assists in four matches combined this week as Clover went a perfect 4-0 in the same span.

Clover beat Boilings Springs, 2-0, and Greenwood, 2-1, Aug. 22.

The Blue Eagles also beat Indian Land, 2-1, and York Prep, 2-0, Aug. 24.

Rickmon has 85 digs, seven aces and four assists for Clover (5-3) this season.

Lydia Sasser, Northwestern Cross Country: The Trojans’ sophomore ran a personal-best 21:39.89 to finish seventh overall in the Girls’ Invitational 5K race at the Providence Cross Country Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Aug. 26.

Sasser’s efforts also helped the Northwestern girls’ cross country team to a first-place finish at the same event.

Ella Scott, Nation Ford Volleyball: The Falcons’ senior setter had 28 assists, nine digs, three aces and two kills in a 3-0 win at Catawba Ridge, Aug. 22.

Scott followed that up with 29 assists, five digs, two kills and one ace in a 3-1 victory at Cuthbertson, Aug. 24.

Scott, a Lenoir Rhyne University commit, has 159 assists, 29 digs, 10 blocks, nine kills and five aces for Nation Ford (5-2) this season.

Ava Shook, York Cross Country: The Cougars’ sophomore ran a 21:16.11 to finish fourth overall in the Girls’ Invitational 5K at Providence Cross Country Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Aug. 26.

Shook also led her York team to a 12th-place finish at the same event.

Nala Uter, Catawba Ridge Tennis: The Copperheads’ senior won her No. 1 singles’ match, 6-1, 6-1, to lead Catawba Ridge to a 4-3 win over Rock Hill, Aug. 22.

Catawba Ridge is 1-0 this season.
