Prep football: A full slate of games this week in the Rock Hill region. What to know

There’s a large slate of high school football games Friday night in the Rock Hill region heading into Week 2.

All kickoffs are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Here’s the list:

Lancaster (0-2) at Rock Hill (0-1)

Both Lancaster and Rock Hill will be looking to get their first wins of the season when the Bruins head over to District 3 Stadium. Lancaster lost to Irmo 56-12 last week, while Rock Hill dropped its season opener to South Pointe 35-13.

South Pointe (2-0) at Gaffney (1-1)

The Stallions aim to open their regular season with a third-consecutive win over a 5A school as they head to face Gaffney. After a tough Week 0 loss, Gaffney beat Union County 63-7 last week.

Catawba Ridge (1-1) at Nation Ford (1-1)

These two rivals meetup on the heels of tough home losses for both. Catawba Ridge blew a 13-3 halftime lead over Charlotte Christian to lose 34-13, while Nation Ford wants to recover from a 30-14 loss to York last week.

Union County (0-2) at York (1-1)

York plays its first home game of the season against a Union County team that has allowed an average of 55 points in its opening two games.

Palisades (1-1) at Indian Land (1-1)

Indian Land grinded out a tough 7-6 win over Timberland last week for its first win of the season and will look to make it two-in-a-row against a Palisades team out of Charlotte coming off a 44-0 victory over East Mecklenburg.

Hillcrest (2-0) at Clover (0-1)

Clover’s first home game in the Perry Woolbright era will be against a Hillcrest team who has opened the season on two 21+ point victories. The Blue Eagles are looking to right the ship after a 56-12 loss to Northwestern in Week 1.

Fairfield Central (2-0) at Chester (2-0)

Chester has opened the season with two wins over higher-classification programs in Lancaster and Fort Mill and will look to make it three wins over non-3A schools when 2A Fairfield Central come into town. Fairfield Central is coming off a 33-16 victory over Andrew Jackson last week.

Andrew Jackson (0-1) at Crestwood (1-1)

Andrew Jackson wants to bounce back from a season-opening loss as it heads down to Sumter to face Crestwood, who is coming off a close 62-60 loss to Gray Collegiate Academy last week.

Buford (0-2) at Lee Central (1-1)

Buford looks to bounce back from a 49-0 Week 1 loss to Lewisville as the Yellow Jackets travel to a Lee Central team with a 26-point loss to Chesterfield and a 28-point win over Great Falls to open the season.

Lewisville (1-1) at Chesterfield (1-0)

Lewisville was ranked the top 1A school in the state this week and will look to prove itself as the Lions travel to 3A Chesterfield. Lewisville is coming off a dominant win over Buford last week, while Chesterfield had a bye.
