Below are the nominees for The Herald’s high school athlete of the week. The poll will close Friday at noon. Vote now. Vote often.

This week’s nominees

LaKiara Alexander, Legion Collegiate girls’ basketball: The 6-foot-1 junior forward scored 10 points, had seven rebounds, three steals and a block in a 38-37 win over Providence Day Nov. 14.

Alexander also recorded a double-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and two steals in a 47-37 loss to Grace Christian Nov. 16.

Keller Brown, South Pointe cross-country: The Stallions’ junior captain ran a personal-best 15:47.62 to finish third at the 4A Upper State Qualifier in Columbia Nov. 16.

Brown’s efforts also helped the South Pointe boys’ cross-country team to a runner-up finish by just two points to May River High at the same meet.

Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill girls’ cross-country: The Yellow Jackets’ junior ran an 18:23.62 to win the 5A Upper State Qualifer by 34 seconds at Hilton Field at Fort Jackson Nov. 15.

Cleveland’s run also led the Fort Mill girls’ cross-country team to a Upper State Qualifier victory, beating the field by 37 points.

Dane Craig, Clover football: The 5-foot-11, 151-pound senior wide receiver had six catches for 146 yards and a touchdown to help Clover to 31-28 win over Blythewood in the first round of the S.C. 5A state playoffs.

Clover improved to 8-3 this season.

Ryan Pierson, Catawba Ridge cross-country: The Copperheads’ sophomore ran a personal-best 15:58.33 to win the Division II 5A Upper State Qualifier Nov. 15.

Pierson’s run also helped the Catawba Ridge boys’ cross-country team to a runner-up finish at the same meet.

Damais Seegars, Andrew Jackson football: The 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior running back had 21 carries for 294 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-17 win at Liberty in the first round of the 2A state playoffs.

Seegars, who averaged 14 yards per carry in the victory, also had his fourth 100-plus yard rushing performance of the season for Andrew Jackson (4-7).

John Michael Slater, Northwestern cross-country: The Trojans’ sophomore ran a personal-best time of 16:28.38 to finish 10th at the Division II 5A Upper State Qualifier at Hilton Field at Fort Jackson Nov. 15.

Slater also helped the Northwestern boys’ cross-country team qualify for the 5A state championship meet with a third-place finish at the Upper State Qualifier.
