Here are the nominees for The Herald’s high school athlete of the week.

This week’s nominees
Eliza Baskins, Lancaster girls’ basketball, Sr.: The 5-foot-7 senior scored 19 points to go with four rebounds and four steals in a 42-31 win over Nation Ford on Dec. 10. Baskins also scored six points and had two rebounds in a 48-43 loss at Keenan on Dec. 12.
Baskins finished off the week with 20 points, two rebounds, six steals and two assists in a 59-30 victory at Cox Mill on Dec. 14.
Baskins is averaging 16.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and two steals per game for Lancaster (5-3).
Nas Berry, Fort Mill basketball: The 6-2 senior scored 14 points in a 67-28 win over York on Dec. 10.
Berry also had 23 points, three assists and two steals in a 67-46 victory at Gaffney on Dec. 11.
Berry finished off the week with 20 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steal in a 43-37 win at Providence.
Berry is averaging 17.4 points, 3.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game for Fort Mill (7-1).
Ja’Nyia Cunningham, South Pointe girls’ basketball: The 6-foot sophomore had 20 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-15 win at Northwestern on Dec. 10.
Cunningham followed that up with career highs in points, 31, and rebounds, 23, in a 56-48 victory at Rock Hill on Dec. 13.
Cunningham also scored her 1,000th career point in the Rock Hill win, becoming the fifth player in school history to accomplish the feat.
Cunningham is averaging 15.9 points and 11.4 rebounds per game for a South Pointe team that is still unbeaten at 7-0, as of Monday night.
Alex Johnson, Catawba Ridge wrestling: The Copperheads’ sophomore went 5-0 this week to win the 215-pound title at the Kingsley Tournament in Fort Mill Dec. 13-14.
Johnson, who won the Hornet Hammer Invitational in Aiken earlier this month, is 14-1 overall this season.
Mike Jones, Indian Land basketball, Jr.: The 5-10 junior scored 21 points in an 89-24 win at Andrew Jackson on Dec. 10.
Jones also scored 22 points in a 63-43 victory over Andrew Jackson on Dec. 13.
Jones poured in 27 points in a 59-53 win over McCallie (TN) on Dec. 14.
Jones is averaging 20.6 points per game for an Indian Land team that is still perfect at 10-0 this season.
Clara Powell, Clover girls’ basketball: The 5-10 junior scored 12 points and had two rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 55-25 win over Belmont South Point on Dec. 10.
Powell also scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, had one assist and one steal in a 56-17 victory over High Point Academy on Dec. 12.
Powell is averaging 10.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for Clover (4-1).
Levi Staton, Riverwalk Academy basketball: The 6-1 senior scored eight points, had eight rebounds, one steal and one assist in an 88-24 loss to Great Falls on Dec. 9.
Staton also had eight points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists in a 70-30 loss at Lee Central.
Staton is averaging 10.2 points and five rebounds for Riverwalk Academy (1-3).
Kamyla Torres, Rock Hill girls’ wrestling: The Bearcats’ sophomore went 5-0 last week on the mat.
Torres won two matches in a tri-meet Dec. 13.
The next day, Torres went 3-0 to win the 100-pound title at the Al Kessie Invitational at Olympic High in Charlotte.
Tamia Watkins, Andrew Jackson girls’ basketball, Sr.: The 6-2 senior scored 19 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, had five assists, eight steals and four blocks in a 62-17 win over Indian Land on Dec. 10.
Watkins also had 33 points, six rebounds, one assist, six steals and a block in a 73-22 victory at Indian Land Dec. 13.
Watkins is averaging 24.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 5.8 steals, 2.7 assists and 2.7 blocks per game for Andrew Jackson (5-2).
Antwon Young, York Prep basketball, Jr.: The 6-4 junior scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals in a 58-55 win at Piedmont on Dec. 9.
The next night, Young posted 22 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a 56-53 victory at Catawba Ridge.
Young also scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, two blocks and three steals in a 73-47 win at Legion Collegiate on Dec. 13.
Young is averaging 18 points, nine rebounds, 2.5 blocks and two steals per game for York Prep (5-2).
