High school basketball gameday: Weather has impact on Rock Hill-area schedule
There’s snow in the forecast, and that means some changes in the Tuesday night high school basketball schedule for the Rock Hill area.
The National Weather Service has placed York, Chester and Lancaster counties under a Winter Weather Advisory. Snowfall amounts aren’t expected to be heavy, but forecasters said the combination of light snow and cold temperatures could cause hazardous road conditions.
Three York County games — South Pointe at Richland Northeast, Clover at Catawba Ridge, and Fort Mill at Nation Ford — have been postponed . All games involving Chester County teams are postponed, as are some games involving Lancaster County teams.
One of those matchups, Fort Mill-Nation Ford, has been rescheduled for Wednesday night.
Here is a preview of the midweek’s top games, plus an updated schedule:
(girls) Legion Collegiate (18-8) at Ambassador Christian (9-4), 5 p.m. — The Lancers have lost two of three following a 10-game winning streak. LaKiara Alexander (15.8 ppg) leads Legion Collegiate against a new private school in Huntersville. Sadie Faulkner (15.7 ppg), a 6-0 junior, leads Ambassador Christian in scoring and rebounding.
WEDNESDAY
(boys) Fort Mill (16-2, 5-0 Region 3 5A) at Nation Ford (9-9, 1-4), around 7:45 p.m. — As is the case with Clover and Catawba Ridge, Nation Ford is trying to position itself for postseason play but needs a few victories down the stretch. That might be a tall order against Fort Mill, which has won 12 of 13. Guard Logan Parker is averaging 14.6 points a game on 58% field goal shooting.
